How to Apply Previous Truck Tax to New Truck?

  1. Login to your Dashboard on EZ2290.com
  2. Click on the Select button next to your business name under Business Profile List
  3. On the bottom of Tax Submission History, click on Create New Return
  4. Select the Tax Year and Month First Used. Click on 2290 Return
  5. For the new Truck(s), click on Add New next to Taxable Vehicle (If the new Truck is an Agricultural/Tax Suspended Truck/Low Mileage, see 6)
    • Provide the VIN Number, if it's less than 17 digits long, fill in the rest with X
    • Choose whether or not it is a Logging Vehicle
    • Select the Weight Class
    • Click the green checkmark to save
  6. If your new Truck(s) is Tax Suspended, click on Add New next to Taxable Suspended Vehicle
    • Provide the VIN Number, if it's less than 17 digits long, fill in the rest with X
    • Choose whether or not it is a Logging Vehicle
    • Choose whether or not it is an Agricultural Vehicle
    • Click the green checkmark to save
  7. For the old Truck(s) that you've sold or gotten rid of for any reason, click on Add New next to Credit Requests
    • Provide the VIN Number, if it's less than 17 digits long, fill in the rest with X
    • Choose whether or not it is a Logging Vehicle
    • Select the Weight Class
    • Provide the reason you're credit requesting
    • Provide the Effective Date. If you've sold the vehicle, this is the date that the selling occurred.
    • Click the green checkmark to save
  8. Click Next
  9. Provide Third Party Designee (optional). This person will be able to speak to the IRS on your behalf regarding this filing. Click Next
  10. Provide IRS Payment Information
    • Most common is "ACH-Direct Bank Account Draft," which is also known as a bank draft.
    • EFTPS is for those who have an EFTPS account and would like to pay through their website.
    • Mail-In Check is available as well. It does not delay the time it takes to get your Schedule 1.
      • You must mail in the 2290-V Payment Voucher (page 6 of original Submitted Return) and your check to the IRS within the next 30 days to prevent IRS late fees on payment.
  11. Click Next
  12. Consent to Disclosure of Tax Information
    • Yes or No does not affect your filing in any way.
  13. Sign the box at the bottom of the 8453-EX using your computer mouse.
  14. Final Review and Submit.
  15. Click Proceed to pay
  16. Choose a package offer. Most often you will always choose 'payment for this return only...'
  17. Enter credit card information. Click Confirm
